At Mambo’s Storage & Home, we do things the Mambo’s Way — with integrity, accountability, and a strong people-first culture. We are seeking a capable, hands-on HR Generalist & Payroll Administrator to manage a broad HR portfolio while ensuring accurate payroll and time management across our retail operations.

This role is ideal for an HR professional who is confident in payroll, time and attendance, compliance, and employee relations, and who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-unit retail environment. PaySpace payroll experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll & Time Management (Critical Functions)

  • End-to-end PaySpace payroll administration
  • Processing monthly payroll including wages, overtime, allowances, deductions, and leave
  • Full time and attendance management and administration across all business units and stores
  • Monitoring clocking data, shifts, overtime, absenteeism, and exceptions
  • Reconciling time and attendance data with payroll to ensure accuracy
  • Managing payroll and time-related queries from stores and management
  • Ensuring statutory compliance (PAYE, UIF, SDL) and accurate submissions
  • Maintaining payroll and timekeeping records, reconciliations, and reports

HR Generalist Functions

  • Managing the full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, induction, transfers, and exits
  • Implementing, maintaining, and enforcing HR policies and procedures, including disciplinary and grievance policies
  • Advising and supporting management on employee relations, misconduct, incapacity, poor performance, and disciplinary hearings
  • Ensuring compliance with South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EE Act, Skills Development Act, COIDA)
  • Managing Employment Equity (EE) compliance, committee coordination, and statutory reporting
  • Coordinating Workplace Skills Plans (WSP) and Annual Training Reports (ATR) and liaising with SETAs
  • Managing training administration and skills development initiatives
  • Supporting performance management processes and HR best practice
  • Maintaining accurate employee records, personnel files, and HR reporting
  • Providing HR support and guidance to line and store management across multiple business units

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or related field
  • Proven PaySpace payroll experience (non-negotiable)
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a generalist HR and payroll role, preferably within a retail or multi-site environment
  • Experience managing time and attendance systems across multiple business units
  • Strong working knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR compliance
  • Experience with EE and Skills Development reporting
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines, and work independently
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail
